Our Why
Cipria Make-Up by Lareine started with a love story – a love for products that were as beautiful as they were effective. During a trip to Sandton, Johannesburg, I stumbled upon makeup products that instantly won me over. They were luxurious, effective, and felt incredible on my skin. When I ran out, I found myself searching for the company behind these exceptional products in Italy. That search led to an important conversation with Christian Ross about how I could get involved to develop items tailored to customers like me and bring them to new markets, including Nigeria. To be completely honest initially, I wasn’t even drawn to the plant-based aspect; I simply adored how the products made me look and feel. But as I learned more about what I was putting on my skin, I discovered the true value of using organic, paraben-free, and cruelty-free products. I’m often told I look years younger than I am – something I credit to using high-quality makeup and skincare products that deliver real results!
What We Stand For
Today, Cipria Make-Up by Lareine is about more than makeup; it’s about making a difference. We’re on a mission to educate women – especially black women – about the importance of avoiding products with harmful Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs).
Black women are disproportionately exposed to harmful EDCs found in everyday makeup and perfume products. Studies show that Black women are 2–3 times more likely to use products containing higher levels of toxic chemicals, often marketed specifically to them. The health impacts are serious and far-reaching: EDCs have been linked to higher rates of hormone-related issues such as uterine fibroids, infertility, and even certain cancers. Research highlights that Black women have a higher risk of developing and dying from breast cancer, which may be exacerbated by repeated exposure to these harmful substances.
At Cipria Make-Up by Lareine, we’re on a mission to change this narrative. By providing safe, organic, paraben-free, and cruelty-free alternatives, we aim to protect and celebrate the natural beauty of women everywhere. Our goal is to ensure every woman – especially Black women – feels confident, radiant, and informed, knowing that beauty never has to come at the expense of health.
