Andre wasn’t a heavy makeup wearer, but she was intentional in how she carried herself. She believed in nature, in wellness, and in sisterhood. This campaign stands for care, consciousness, and connection in Andre’s honour, and in service of others.. Andre passed away on Easter Monday 2025. On the Saturday before, I was told she had asked for me. Because of the Easter weekend, I couldn’t get there until Tuesday. On Monday, I got the message that she’d passed. I didn’t get there in time. It broke me and left me with a quiet, unshakable sense of missed opportunity. This campaign is my response. A chance to honour her legacy and help others show up while it still matters. We don’t always get to go back. But we do get to show up now.

Why it matters for Black women:
- Formaldehyde & Formaldehyde-Releasing Agents (e.g., DMDM hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea, quaternium-15
- Parabens (e.g., methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben). Used as preservatives, parabens can mimic estrogen and disrupt hormonal balance.
- Phthalates – Often hidden under the ingredient “fragrance” or “parfum”.Linked to reproductive harm and commonly found in synthetic scents.
- Triclosan & Triclocarban– Antibacterial agents that can affect thyroid function and promote antibiotic resistance.
- BHA (Butylated Hydroxyanisole) & BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene)- Synthetic antioxidants used to preserve products, linked to hormone disruption and cancer in animal studies.
- Petroleum-Derived Ingredients –(e.g., mineral oil, paraffin, petrolatum). Only safe if highly refined to USP grade. Lower-grade versions may be contaminated with carcinogens.
